Architectural Marvel

The temple is built on a star-shaped platform (a characteristic Hoysala feature) and showcases exquisite soapstone carvings. Every inch of the temple walls is covered with intricate sculptures depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranas, as well as celestial dancers, musicians, animals, and floral motifs.

The temple's garbhagriha (sanctum) houses a beautifully carved idol of Chennakeshava standing on a lotus pedestal. The navaranga (hall) features ornately carved pillars, with the famous "Narasimha" pillar being a highlight. The temple also has 48 intricately carved pillars, each unique in design.

One of the most remarkable features is the bracket figures (madanikas) that adorn the outer walls. These exquisitely carved female figures in various dance poses are considered masterpieces of Indian sculpture.
